Dragon Fish - Max's PIck of the Week

Dragon Fish - Max loved these fish. They do have very large mouths and will eat anything that will fit in there. They are pretty interesting and have little eyes on top of its head. Long, slender and gray, they do swim through the water a lot like an eel. They love tubifex worms and frozen bloodworm cubes.

Some additional information to help any future owners of Dragon Fish or Violet Goby:

They really prefer brackish water and are nearly blind as evidenced by their VERY small eyes. Their sense of smell is quite good though.

Although they have a menacing appearance, they are actually quite peaceful. The exception is when you have more than one larger sized fish (10"+) in the same tank, at which point they can become territorial toward their own species.

Their huge mouths can mislead owners to think they can eat good-sized morsels. This is actually false, as their throats are actually quite small. They use that cavernous mouth to suck loose items off of the bottom into their mouth where the food items are filtered out and eaten. Bloodworms and brine shrimp are among their favorites food.
